HomeScanPlan is an iOS app for scanning rooms with LiDAR and estimating the materials needed for paint, flooring, and basic trade work. We designed it to work without an account and without sending your data anywhere.
Summary
- We don't collect personal data. No account. No login. No analytics. No tracking. No third-party SDKs in the app.
- Your scans stay on your device. Captured 3D models, derived measurements, estimates, and material catalogs live in your iPhone's local storage.
- Sharing is opt-in. Files leave your device only when you tap the share sheet yourself (e.g. sending a USDZ, JSON, CSV, or PDF to email, Files, AirDrop, or another app of your choice).
What the app uses on your device
- Camera and motion sensors. Required by Apple's RoomPlan framework to scan a room with LiDAR. The live camera feed is processed on-device to build the room model; we do not store the camera stream itself.
- Local storage (SwiftData). Projects, rooms, scans (USDZ + scan JSON), estimates, and bills of materials are stored on your iPhone.
- App preferences. Unit system (imperial / metric), currency, default coats/waste, and the onboarding-seen flag.
What we do not do
- We do not run our own analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
- We do not have user accounts, sign-in, or passwords.
- We do not sell, share, or transmit your scans or measurements to anyone.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
Apple-mediated services we may use
The app is distributed through the App Store, which means Apple provides certain infrastructure on our behalf, governed by Apple's own privacy policy:
- App Store / TestFlight. Apple reports anonymized download and crash metrics to us. We use those only to fix bugs.
- Cloud sync (planned, opt-in in a future update). A future version (HomeScanPlan 1.1) will offer optional cloud sync, so your projects appear on your other devices and can be shared with contractors who don't use Apple devices. Cloud sync will go through HomeScanPlan's own backend (not iCloud), which means we will collect an account (email + Sign in with Apple) and store your projects on our servers. This policy will be rewritten and the App Store privacy label updated before that feature is enabled — we will not silently change how your data is handled. Until then, nothing leaves your device unless you tap the share sheet yourself.
This website
homescanplan.com is a static informational site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Page styling is loaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network, which may log requests (such as your IP address) per its own privacy policy, as any web server does.
Children's privacy
HomeScanPlan is intended for adults planning home-improvement work. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes how it handles data (for example, when cloud sync ships, or if we ever add an optional server-side feature like an updated materials catalog), we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. We will not change the App Store privacy label without first updating this policy.
